Place the flour, sugar, and salt in the food processor fitted with the steel blade attachment. Pulse until combined.
Add the butter and lard to the food processor and and pulse about 8-12 times until the butter and lard are about the size of peas.
With the machine running, slowly pour the ice water down the feed tube and pulse the machine until the dough begins to form a ball. You may not need all of the ice water.
Dump the mixture onto a lightly floured piece of plastic wrap and press into a ball. Wrap in plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 30 mins.
Notes
If you do not want to use lard, replace the lard with butter.This recipe makes 2 pie shells roughly 9-11 inches round.This is a great freezer recipe. Wrap in plastic wrap and place in a sealed zipper bag. Freeze up to 9 months.
